What’s New on Social? “What Bloody Substitute are you proud or ashamed of?”
*Sabrina Aguirre;
“My super odd one is I use Peggy’s World Famous Bloody Mary Mix in a shaker with a large spoonful of Nutella, vodka and espresso for a spicy chocolate espresso martini… Not exactly a bloody but it uses the concentrate 🎉”
*Jeff Staab;
“I am enthusiastic about my bloodies! I like kimchi juice in mine. Where’s the rest of the 92,000 people in this group that say they are enthused by this very special cocktail when important questions like this are asked? And you say you’re enthused! Go sip your Zing Zang !”
*Brenda Besse Graff;
“This is really good in a bloody [photo of Florida Seasoned Pepper] but I also put in Tajin, Worcestershire, Louisiana hot sauce, celery salt, dill seasoning and lots of pepper. I love bloody Mary’s!”
*Bob Quinn;
“I’m ashamed to use a cheap plastic bottle mix for starters…”
*Lynn Cooper;
“I don’t really substitute anything per say. I add to my mix but usually pickle juice and olive juice, horseradish etc. Nothing special.”
*Pamela Surface-Russell;
“Maggi” (an international brand of seasonings, instant soups, and noodles that originated in Switzerland in the late 19th century.)
*Rich Landis;
“I don’t mind the clam juice, but I find there’s better substitutions for it. Many times I reserve the water after boiling shrimp with the seasonings to add to my bloodies. Other times it’s just a touch of anchovy paste.”

The Michelada

Traditional Mexican beer-based cocktail. “Beer Bloody”
Roots are contested. “Mi chela helada” (My cold beer) Chela = slang for beer. In Mexico beer has long been consumed with lime and salt (Think American Tequila drinks) Michelada may have grown from that custom. Adding sauces and spices make it more complex.
Vary by region but the Mexico City style is;
Fresh lime, Salted rim, sometimes Worcestershire, Maggi seasoning, and hot sauce. “Chelada”- clean version; beer, lime, salted rim.
Northern Mexico, Baja, and Southern US- Clamato.
In Jalisco – Add OJ. Guadalajara- MORE SPICE!

I happen to be fluent in that language. So, my you, yeah. Coming to you from the studios of the Bloody Mary concert series.
